We all know that storage space in the house is the key to comfortable living. Yep, I said that! That’s why we were so pleased that our new home had plenty of storage space (three built-ins to be exact). My favourite is the one in the hall, because it’s a quite large walk-in.
Hubb’s idea was to build shelves all around the storage. As you can see, there’s quite a space to use if you go up with shelves and it still can be used as walk-in mudroom. But as we all know, best laid plans….
We didn’t have much time to do it, so we started to put more and more things into the storage. After 4 months it looked like that:
Well, there’s not much to say other than…
Yes, we are unorganized hoarders! That’s why we needed to do something right away. We still didn’t have much time to do those shelves, so we did the next best thing: we bought cheap storage shelving unit from Ikea.
It looks a bit better and there’s still plenty of space to put additional shelves up if needed.
Some of you might have seen our olive tree.
It was a spontaneous buy, so there’s still no definite space for that cutie. Can you see this cute, retro ad in the pic above? It was the gift from my friend. And it’s a calendar too!
It will fit perfectly in the kitchen. Speaking of which… There’s plenty you can do with bare walls between your kitchen cabinets and countertops: tiles, waterproof adhesive wallpaper, stain proof paint. Recently I’m really keen on wall panels idea. They have some cheap panels in Ikea (yes, Ikea again!;)). But there aren’t too many colors to choose from.
Tell me what you think about that idea in the comments.
I’ve just finished all my July craft projects, so colorful and fun diys are coming your way!
Also, stay tuned for a lovely victorian house tour.
