Crock Pot Poached Pears

Crock Pot Poached Pears

Easy & healthy (reduced sugar, vegetarian) crock pot poached pears recipe.

Shopping list:

-4 medium-sized pears (or 6 small pears), peeled but but with stalks
-1 cup of water (250 ml)
-2 teaspoon of sugar
-1 teaspoons of cinnamon
– few cloves
– fruit & nut toppers (just a few will do)
-1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Prepare pears for cooking: wash them, peel them and cut their bottoms (so the pears can easily stand up on a plate).
Cooking: In a small bowl, mix water, cinnamon, cloves, lemon juice, fruit and nut toppers & sugar. Stir it well. Pour the mixture into the slow cooker and add pears (lay them on their sides). Cover and cook on high for an hour or on low for two hours. Halfway through cooking, open the lid and turn pears to the other side. Cover again.
Before serving: Use knife to check if pears are thoroughly cooked. They should be soft and mushy. If unsure, add 30 minutes to cooking time. *Mine were stubborn, so I ended up cooking them for 2 hrs on high!

  3. […] Reduced sugar pears from slow cooker. Veggies and fruits are the best snacks: try cooked grated beetroot (it’s on our shopping list- later in the post) or baked parsnips. […]
