A month a go, we’ve heard a loud bang and all the main lights in the house went off. Electricians came and repaired it in a jiffy, but after a few second lights went off again. After another few, fail attempts to repair it, they’ve decided they need to check ( and first and foremost find) connection block that is located underneath the floorboards. They’ve opened the first hatch (we’ve got few of those in the apartment) in the floor and that is what we all saw :
Muddy soil and mould!
Well, that explains weird smells in the apartment when it rains outside. It looks like we’ve been living above the swamp for the last three months. One of the cables has been lying in the muddy ground, which might caused the short circuit. It also might have been a mouse. Gee, after what I saw underneath these floorboards, I think it could have even been a zombie! One of the electricians said that the whole apartment probably needs to be rewired.
Landlord is trying to figure out what to do with the whole electric/muddy mess. It is possible that we will have to find another place to live.
