Cheap, healthy meals you can make yourself.
For people suffering from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) , choosing what to eat can be quite daunting. Especially if you’re in the hurry or on the go.
That’s why I’ve rounded up some easy, healthy and IBS friendly recipes, to help you with your diet struggles. Some meals are slow cooked and others are easy to make 3 ingredient snacks, breakfasts and dinners you can prepare while in the hurry. I’ll be adding new recipes to the list frequently.
When you’re struggling with IBS (or you’re at the begging of the elimination diet), it’s important to make your everyday meals enjoyable. IBS is hard as it is and making the healing process more yummy is the least we can do.
It’s good to remember that irritable bowel syndrome is a tricky condition, which means that some allowed foods my trigger your symptoms, and some foods from ‘to avoid’ list may agree with you just fine. Elimination diet will help you to determine which foods are the best for you. So far, Low FODmaps diet is the most frequent choice for people with IBS.
Recipes listed below, are the ones that helped me survive the worst times! Times when I was craving everything from the forbidden list. I hope my meal ideas, will make your healing process more enjoyable.
You can make few trials before trying new recipes. Add new ingredients (one new ingredient at the time) to meals you already know and love. If in doubt, try something very simple (like gluten free pasta with tomato sauce) and then add ingredient you want to try out. I’m sure you will figure out your ‘to eat’ list in no time! If a new ingredient triggers your symptoms, don’t get discouraged! There’s plenty more to try, mix and match.
